When one is monocultural there’s a natural sense of belonging.

But for people whose identities come from many cultures, the sense of who they are shifts and evolves as they discover themselves.

Sometimes we carry the weight of two cultures and two heritages. We, at once, belong to both and to neither. 

Duality defines our lives, who we are, where we come from. How do we bridge the cultural gap and reconcile these different ancestries, to create a unique place of identity wherein we really belong?

Through the lens of biracial and first-generation youth, we apply digital manipulation and layering to express our estrangement from our mother culture, reinterpreting iconography, images from our past, and meanings to depict our evolved cultural experiences.
